April is National Poetry Month! The Pikes Peak Poetry Summit is Saturday, April 13 at the Hall (formerly Knights of Columbus Hall, next door to the PPSC Downtown Campus). This free poetry celebration is organized by PPLD and Pikes Peak Poet Laureate, Ashley Cornelius. It’s a full day of performances and activities, but you can also drop in for one or more events.
Brook Bhagat is honored to be invited to be a part of the Summit for the third year in a row. In her workshop, participants will learn a bit about the Surrealist Literary Movement and play writing games like the Exquisite Corpse.
From PPLD.org: “Get inspired, improve your craft, share your words, and learn more about poetry locally and across the state. Engage with our poetry workshops, learn how to slam, and experience amazing poetry and dance performances. Workshops include How to Slam 101, Stop Making Sense: The Exquisite Corpse and Other Surrealist Games, crafting a performance art piece, building community through poetry, and a poetry zine workshop for youth.”
There will be free breakfast and food trucks at lunch.
