Stephanie M. Lindberg (SM Lindberg)’s flash nonfiction essay, “There Will Be Blood,” was published in the Summer 2020 edition, Volume 1.2, of Assure Press’s Iris Literary Journal. Due to the pandemic, publishing was delayed, and the edition was printed in early 2021. The theme was “White”, featuring “work that creatively addresses purity: innocence, idealism, fidelity, goodness, honesty, incorruptibility, integrity, virtuousness, morality, virtue.” Lindberg’s essay focuses on teen girls and volleyball.
Lindberg also read this essay as part of two readings in the past month, including with Arapahoe Community College’s student and faculty reading, held online over Zoom. Several current faculty, current students, and ACC alumni also participated in the reading, featuring about twenty writers total. It was a mix of genres and a wonderful way to appreciate written work in a virtual environment. Lindberg also read as part of the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) 2021 virtual conference, as part of the Two-Year College Creative Writing Caucus reading. She is currently the treasurer of the Caucus.
The Iris Literary Journal is published both in print and as an ebook, available on Assure Press’s website: https://assurepress.org/irislitjournal The journal publishes drama, poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art.
