Publication: Two new poetry collections from M.R. Hyde

ReeAnn Hyde, also known as M.R. Hyde, is pleased to announce the publication of two new poetry collections: A Prayer From the Driven: Poems by a Christian and The Reluctant Poet, now available at Lulu.com and other fine retailers. From the website:

A Prayer From the Driven: Poems by a Christian

Poetry can be an important part of any person’s life. In this author’s life, there is the unmistakable influence of Holy Bibles of many versions, providing daily doses of powerful religious poetry in the Psalms and Prophets. The stories found in the Bible also move and shape the author’s spiritual imagination. Wrestling with being a fallen human, being saved by the wonderful grace of Jesus Christ, these poems are from life chapters dark and bright. Following the examples of prophets, prophetesses, priests, and kings, M.R. Hyde explores poetic forms of all kinds in relating her Christian experience and love and respect for the one, true, living God.

The Reluctant Poet

The author’s poetic loves and influences are T.S. Eliot, Odgen Nash, H.D., William Pratt, Milton, Longfellow, Langston Hughes, Robert Frost, William Carlos Williams, and Dr. Suess. There is also the unmistakable influence of Holy Bibles of many versions, providing daily doses of powerful religious poetry in the Psalms and Prophets. And in the author’s memory banks, still alive with the marvelous illustrations, sits the 1961 Childcraft Poems of Early Childhood and Storytelling and Other Poems. “The Highwayman” by Alfred Noyes stands out as a most passionate and evocative love poem that is still remembered vividly to this day. Exorcizing the fear of revealing herself through poetry is an important step in the author’s life as a writer. These poems are collected into broad themes based on a life that feeds on poetry.

“We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.” —Dead Poets Society

Congratulations, ReeAnn!
